Road Scholar Tours

I’m Jim, the frugal traveler and I’m on one of my favorite tours, Road Scholar and to one of my favorite places Pensacola, Florida. Pensacola beaches are some of the best, most beautiful white sandy beaches anywhere in the world.

The Road Scholar program (Key West at Your Pace: Living on Island Time) is a trip to the past with Hemmingway and President Truman.

Jim’s Travel Strategies

  1. Adapt. Accept changes and things out of your control.
  2. Smile. Travel can be uncomfortable. It’s part of the deal. Adversity is character building.
  3. Problem solve. Travel is about solving problems.
  4. Backup Plan. Plan alternative destinations or activities if plans change.

Favorite Things and Memorable Moments

Schooner Ride –  As part of the tour, I enjoyed the MV Appledore. A 1.5-hour trip outside Key West harbor under full sail. Built of oak and teak, this 65-foot sailing vessel built in Bangor, Maine was a blast to sail on!

Free Sunsets –  Catch a breathtaking sunset, arrive close to dusk. Go to the pier where the cruise ships dock. The dock is located right behind the Margaritaville Resort and Marina. Great photo opportunities!

Catch a movie at the “Tropic” – One of the few theaters where you can buy alcohol, not bad way to spend the night with a bottle of wine with your favorite flick?
