I’m not much of winery visitor, especially when I travel. However, while in Dublin, one of the highlights of my trip is the tasting tours I experienced at the original Jameson Whiskey and Guinness facility. I have to say, Dublin is the place to taste the best Jameson Irish Whiskey and Guinness Beer. After taking the tours, I am a believer in drinking these two Irish classics. Brewing whiskey and beer is no simple task.
The Best Travel Tour for Tasting Jameson Whiskey
Who travels to taste Jameson Whiskey? I didn’t plan to take this tour, but having taken it, I highly recommend it! There is nothing like sipping a famous whiskey brand at the distillery. The location in Dublin is the original distillery and is easy to get to by tram from downtown Dublin. I stayed in the Trinity College area and it is a snap to get the distillery.

In the tasting room, I learned the subtleties of whiskey, as the Jameson guide teaches the unique characteristics compared to other brands of whiskey.
The Tasting Room
My favorite part of the tour, of course, was the tasting room. In the tasting room, the guide taught us the difference between blends, American Whiskey, Irish Whiskey, and what makes whiskey so unique. The dark room dramatically emphasized the presentation. The Jameson crew member focused the guests on the characteristics of the spirits, highlighting the unique color and smell that makes each type its brand.
The gift shop is a great place to buy souvenirs for friends and family back home!
If you care to have a rest before or after the Jameson Tour, stop at their rustic bar. Nowadays, the whiskey is produced at the New Midleton Distillery in County Cork. This location in Dublin no longer creates the famous whiskey.
Interesting Ending
I notice St James Church as I left the distillery. Then, I look more closely at the sign. I see the Camino scallop shell. Then, I carefully read the sign. St James is believed to have reached Dublin, Ireland. As the sign says, pilgrims leave from here each year to trek and journey as pilgrims to Compostella, Camino de Santiago. I made the walk last year and was thrilled to find the sign and the Camino shell on it because it is one of the most meaningful journeys I have ever taken.

Here is a sample of where the journey took the Camino de Santigo Itinerary and me.
It’s funny how life and destinations intersect. The more I travel, the more I realize, there are no accidents, I live my life accidentally on purpose.
