April Showers Make May Seattle Flowers

By  |

April Showers make the best May Seattle flowers. God knows we got enough rain this year in Seattle. It’s raining again today! But, something good comes from all this rain. The good that comes from all this Seattle rain is beautiful flowers.

I have lived here a long time. By the time April comes, and the rain is still pouring down, I am ready for it to end or to get out of town. The local joke about Seattle people is, “we don’t tan, we rust” because it rains some much. On the positive side, it’s cozy, and the rainy days give me permission to binge on Netflix, read a lot, maybe become the next Kurt Cobain or continue my hibernation in Birkenstocks and socks.

Seattle is creative, politically correct, and very outdoorsy. It’s so outdoorsy companies provide bike racks, mandatory recycling, and exercise rooms with showers for Seattle employees. But seriously, the rain makes Seattle a very green location, both physically, politically, and psychologically.

Springtime Means May Seattle Flowers

Here is a list of Master Gardens in King County. As you can see, Seattle values Master Gardeners and Gardens. When I lived in Redmond, the State of Washington authorized my backyard as a wildlife sanctuary. A wildlife sanctuary designation means my backyard meet the official wildlife sanctuary standards and criteria. The environmental standards and tremendous amounts of rain make Seattle, King County, Western Washington green. After all, Washington is the evergreen state. Our flower is the Rhododendron.

Seattle Cherry Blossoms

Sometimes, I think our state flower should be the Cherry Blossom because they are all over. We have goobs of Cherry trees that line the streets. However, there is a significant drawback to all these blossoming trees. allergy season is intense out here. When allergy season arrives with spring, I feel awful for a while. Perhaps allergy season is more than the flowers. I think it’s because of our mild winters, the mold, spores, and mildew never die off, so we have a rough spring allergy season. That is better than terrible storms in the midwest and southern states. I think I will take our Seattle weather over those other extreme weather conditions.  But our weather makes for a beautiful spring. Seattle April showers make May Seattle flowers.

Tuber flowers are found in Seattle too because it’s so temperate and mild in winter.

Seattle Flowers – Camelias

I never would think of Camelia’s when I think of Seattle, but actually, they are here. However, Camellias thrive in Seattle because winters are so mild.

When it warms up, always after July 4th, boating, fishing, and other watersports happen in Lake Union, Lake Washington, Lake Sammamish and Puget Sound. We have more lakes than the ones I have listed. So because of the gardens, parks, local trail system, and lakes, Seattle residents and tourist love the great outdoors. Come to Seattle and experience our love of the outdoors. Even though it rains a lot, we love our outdoor culture. Our sunshine culture is like the California’s surfs up culture. When the California ‘surfs-up’ people head to the beach. When the sun comes out in Seattle, people skip work and head outside to enjoy the sunshine.

Travel tip: Best weather in the world is summer in Seattle and early Fall. We hope to see you out here.

Travel tip: Seattleites lose more sunglasses and umbrellas than other places.

Photo tip: Before you go on a European vacation or a holiday, practice taking pictures of flowers and the sights around your home town. Practive makes perfect!

Here is a suggestion for another pace to visit while you are here. Visit University of Washington Cherry Blossoms
